The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam, has released the official notification for Polytechnic Admission 2024. Eligible candidates can apply online for admission into Diploma Courses at various State Government Polytechnics in Assam for the 2024-2025 session.
Total Seats: 4425 seats across 22 different Diploma programs in State Government Polytechnics.

Admission Details: From the 2024-25 session onwards, there will be no Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT). Admission will be based on the marks obtained in the HSLC Exam with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects. More details are available here.
Eligibility Criteria
Residency: Candidates must be Indian citizens and permanent residents of Assam. A Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) must be produced during counseling. Provisional admission can be granted with a PRC Application Receipt and an undertaking to submit the final PRC within 60 days. Failure to submit the PRC within this period will result in cancellation of admission.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must pass the HSLC or its equivalent examination in a single sitting with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects, passing both theory and practical exams individually.
Minimum Average Percentage in Mathematics and Science:
- General: 40%
- OBC/MOBC: 40%
- SC: 35%
- ST: 33%
Age Limit (as of 31st December 2024):
- UR and OBC/MOBC: 20 years 6 months
- SC/ST: 23 years 6 months
- PWD: 25 years 6 months
Application Fee
Fee: Rs 300/- plus applicable bank charges
Payment Modes:
- Online: Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking
- Offline: Through Cash Deposit form from State Bank Collect in the final step of the online application.
How to Apply for Polytechnic Admission?
Eligible candidates who are permanent citizens of Assam can follow these steps to apply online for Diploma Courses:
- Scroll down to the Important Web-Links section.
- Click on the “Online Application Form” and complete the registration process.
- Click on the “Online Application Form” link and log in.
- Fill in all personal and educational details and upload necessary documents.
- Make the payment of the application fee as per your category and submit the form.
- Take a printout of the application form.
Documents Required for Assam Polytechnic Admission
Candidates should keep the following documents ready:
- Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC)
- Caste certificate (except for Unreserved Category)
- Non-creamy layer certificate for OBC/MOBC
- Freedom fighter’s grandsons/grand-daughters: Certificate from Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister or Home and Political Department, and relationship certificate from the concerned Deputy Commissioner.
- Retired defense personnel’s son/daughter: Certificate from the Director, Rajyik Sainik Board, Assam.
- Central government employees’ son/daughter: PRC from the concerned state authority outside Assam and service certificate of father/mother from the concerned authority located in Assam.
- Physically Handicapped (PH)/Persons with Disabilities (PwD): Identity card issued by the Social Welfare Department, Assam.
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): Valid EWS Certificate.
- Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW): Annual Income Certificate issued by an authority not below the rank of Revenue Circle Officer.
- Sports quota: Certificate from the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Assam.
